Software Engineer (C/C++) – Video Codec C-Models and Validation

About the Project
We are engaged in a long-term collaboration with a leading provider of video codec IPs and software solutions for the semiconductor industry. The project focuses on high-performance video compression and decompression technologies, targeting a wide range of applications — from consumer electronics and automotive to industrial systems and cloud infrastructure.
We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our software team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge video processing solutions.
Role Overview
You will develop functional C/C++ reference models and related software used to control and validate video codec and pixel-processing IP.
The focus is codec C-model development for H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, AV1, and VVC. Some projects may also involve pixel-processing algorithms, integration on embedded platforms, or integration with media frameworks.
This is primarily a Linux-based C/C++ model-development and validation role. Work involving the Linux kernel, device drivers, V4L2, FFmpeg, or GStreamer may arise on some projects, but it is not the main focus, and prior experience in these areas is not required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain C/C++ models for codec and pixel-processing IP.
- Create unit tests, regression tests, and automated validation checks.
- Investigate mismatches between C-model, RTL, firmware, and hardware results using compressed bitstreams, traces, and intermediate outputs.
- Collaborate with architecture, hardware, firmware, and validation teams to define behavior and resolve issues.
- When needed, support integration and optimization on embedded platforms or with media frameworks and customer software.
- Review code and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Follow relevant developments in video coding standards and related open-source projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong software development experience in C and C++.
- Practical knowledge of at least one of H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, AV1, or VVC, including core video-coding concepts.
- Linux development experience with command-line tools, build systems, Git, and GDB or similar debuggers.
- Ability to read complex codec specifications and translate normative requirements into working and testable software.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams.
- English at B2 level or above, sufficient for technical discussions and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fixed-point or bit-exact reference-model development.
- Performance-sensitive, embedded, or low-level software development.
- Hardware/software co-validation, RTL debugging, or hardware bring-up.
- Experience with V4L2, FFmpeg, GStreamer, Linux kernel, or driver development.
Work Model and Expectations
- This is a full-time hybrid role based in Yerevan or Paphos. Employees work part of each week from the office and may work remotely for the remainder. The exact schedule is flexible and agreed with the team, but regular on-site presence is required; fully remote work is not available. Candidates who are not already locally based must be willing to relocate.

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our software team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge video processing solutions.
Role Overview
You will develop Linux kernel drivers, low-level software, and user-space components used to integrate, control, and validate video codec and pixel-processing IP.
The focus is Linux kernel and driver development, and integration across hardware, firmware, kernel, and user-space layers. Projects may also involve V4L2, FFmpeg, GStreamer, and customer-specific media software.
This is primarily a Linux kernel and embedded-systems role. Previous experience with video codecs is not required; you will learn the relevant video-pipeline concepts and hardware IP interfaces as part of the work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Linux drivers and low-level software for video codec and pixel-processing IP.
- Integrate hardware IP on embedded platforms, including device initialization, memory and DMA handling, interrupts, synchronization, and power management.
- Develop and maintain kernel-to-user-space interfaces and, when needed, V4L2 or Linux media subsystem integration.
- Develop user-space libraries, utilities, and tests used to configure, exercise, and validate the hardware.
- Diagnose problems using hardware registers, kernel logs, traces, memory dumps, and reproducible test cases.
- Analyze and improve system performance, latency, resource usage, and stability.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, architecture, validation, and application-software teams.
- Review code and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Follow relevant developments in the Linux kernel, embedded systems, and open-source media frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong software development experience in C, with the ability to work with C++ user-space components.
- Practical experience developing or maintaining Linux kernel modules or device drivers.
- Good understanding of embedded and low-level software concepts such as memory-mapped I/O, interrupts, DMA, concurrency, synchronization, and memory management.
- Linux development experience with command-line tools, build systems, Git, and kernel or user-space debugging tools.
- Ability to read hardware interface specifications, register descriptions, and firmware API documentation and translate them into C/C++ software.
- Ability to investigate issues systematically across hardware and software layers.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams.
- English at B2 level or above, sufficient for technical discussions and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Linux media subsystem or V4L2.
- Embedded Linux or ARM-based SoC development.
- Performance analysis and optimization of kernel or embedded software.
- Integration with FFmpeg, GStreamer, or other multimedia frameworks.
- Familiarity with video-processing pipelines or codecs such as H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, AV1, or VVC.
- Experience with Vulkan or other Linux graphics and display APIs.

DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Paphos, Cyprus

About the Role
We are looking for a DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Paphos. You will own our internal infrastructure and developer tooling, keeping the development environment running reliably for a distributed team of software engineers.
Responsibilities
- Administer self-hosted GitLab, including CI/CD pipelines and access management.
- Manage and maintain internal servers and network infrastructure.
- Maintain VPN, network file shares, and the floating license server.
- Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and backup procedures.
- Manage credentials and access across all infrastructure components.
- Write and maintain documentation for infrastructure and processes.
- Provide internal IT support and onboarding for new team members.
Required Qualifications
- Linux server administration.
- Self-hosted GitLab administration and CI/CD.
- Networking and infrastructure fundamentals: VPN, DNS, firewall, file sharing.
- Shell scripting for automation.
- Experience with backup and recovery procedures.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of infrastructure reliability.
- English at B1 level or above.
Preferred Qualifications
- Containerisation and container orchestration.
- Monitoring and alerting tools.
- Windows Server administration.
- Scripting in Python or similar languages.
- Experience in a software product or R&D company.
Work Model and Expectations
This is a full-time, office-based role located in Paphos, Cyprus. Remote work is not available for this position. Candidates must be based in Cyprus or willing to relocate.
You will be expected to work independently, manage infrastructure with limited supervision, and proactively identify and resolve issues before they affect the team.
