Frame / Field

Picture - in terms of video encoding, it is a common term that defines frame or field.

Frame - in terms of video encoding, it is a picture produced by a progressive scan pattern from the top-left corner to bottom-right. Sometimes the term frame is used to define a pair of two (Top and Bottom) fields in the case of interlaced encoding.

Field - in terms of video encoding, it is a picture produced by an interlace scan pattern. Interlace scan works in the same direction as progressive scan but in two passes:
The first pass collects all odd-numbered rows of pixels, the produced field generally is called “Top field”. The second pass collects all even-numbered rows of pixels, the produced field generally is called the “Bottom field”
